Here is a short read from the Maine dept. of aging and disability.
I recently have been notified by the state compliance that my DSP certification is not complete. This was found out when I tried to get reimburse for my medication training from the state even though I have been able to get reimbursed in the past. I completed my DSP training on- line back in 2014 beating the deadline to avoid live classes. Apparently my agency was suppose to do some sort of check list with me and file that as well but did not.... They are working it out as i speak. Worst case scenario is that I will have to take a two day live class but we will see.

Waiver Service Providers,

The Office of Aging and Disabilities Services is committed to ensuring Direct Support Professionals are qualified to deliver services which maintain and enhance the quality of life experienced by the individuals receiving waiver services.

OADS Data and Compliance staff will be reviewing transcripts of Direct Support Professionals within the College of Direct Support to ensure staff are certified in accordance to rule.

Providers will be given through March 31, 2019 to update transcripts to include
• Record of attendance of live classes
• Record of certification in On-track
• Inactivation of former employees, requesting assistance from State Administrators if transcript is shared with another agency

After March 31, 2019 certificates in CDS without record of curriculum completion may require a plan of correction.

Data and Compliance staff will be reviewing transcripts concurrent with Provider efforts and will be contacting each Agency to provide feedback and support.

Thank you for your commitment to training the Direct Support Professionals whose daily work impacts the quality of life of the individuals we serve.

Please feel free to contact Alecia Swihart, Data and Compliance Supervisor at (207) 287-7288 with any questions you may have.
